Newly elected Balbalan Mayor thanked supporters, to prioritize agriculture

Balbalan, Kalinga – Newly elected Balbalan Mayor Almar Malannag thanked supporters and encouraged Ybalbalan people to ‘walk in unity, peace, and love for a Better Balbalan.’

Malannag, during his campaign, said his administration shall prioritize agriculture, learning empowerment, medical provisions, peace and order, and reinforcement of the mandates of the national line agencies.

Following the ceremonial turn over held Tuesday, June 28, at Balbalan Sports Center, Malannag administration officially took over the local government unit of Balbalan, Kalinga.

Said administration under the leadership of Malannag consists of his Vice-Mayor Rowena Munda Cruz Damian, and Councilors Masaki Mangaoang Page, Paul Bog-acon, Clarence Tongdo, Bruce Astudillo, Rex Dulansi, Bernabe Basingan, Dennis Baggay, and Smith Gullayan.

In the turnover, the former mayor, Eric Gonayon Sr., and other outgoing officials handed custody of pertinent documents prepared by the Local Transition Team such as the physical properties of the LGU, its financial condition, Comprehensive Land-Use Plan, and Annual Investment Plan, among others.

Provincial Director Anthony Manolo Ballug of the Department of Interior and Local Government – Kalinga, in his talk, underscored the significance of the ceremony which, he said, is to ensure smooth transition and continuity of public service.
