Quezon City, Philippines – This year end the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) conducted charity work in recently calamity impacted communities in the provinces of Bicol Region, Southern Tagalog, Cagayan, Isabela, Agusan del Sur, and Surigao del Sur that were affected by typhoons Rolly, Ulysses, and Vicky.

37 million peso worth of grocery items plus t-shirts were distributed to the provincial governments for them to allocate needed aid to the affected communities in their areas.

Additionally, the Filipino-led, privately owned company in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid benefitted select barangays nationwide as recipient of their yearly charity work.

“(Target beneficiaries ay) mga host barangays ng substations ng NGCP. (This is called as the) ChristMasaya. Meron pa rin ngayon kaso wala na yung gathering, derecho na binigay sa barangay,” informed Lilibeth Gaydoen of NGCP.

Said charity was conducted in differing schedules last November and went through the month of December.

Slashing out the usual Christmas Parties with games and prizes, and entertainment, NGCP gave out Christmas packages to NGCP-hosted barangays who turned over the items to the most indigent families in respective areas.

33 barangays nationwide benefited from NGCP’s Christmas packages totalling to 7,100 which contained rice, noche buena items, coffee, and canned goods.

“Christmas is all about sharing. Times may have changed under the new normal, but this will not stop NGCP from giving back to its host communities. We hope this will give the most indigent families more reasons to celebrate the holidays,” said NGCP.
