‘No Cordilleran police tested positive of drug use’ – PNP CAR


La Trinidad, Benguet – No police officers tested positive of illegal drugs during a surprise and random drug testing in the region last May 17, 2022, the Philippine National Police Cordillera disclosed.


Based on the data of the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera, a total 241 personnel from 5 units in the region have been randomly picked to undergo drug test on the said date.


Of the figure, 143 are from the Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company; 31 from the Benguet Drug Enforcement Unit; 29 from Abra Police Provincial Office; 20 from Mountain Province PPO; and 18 from the Apayao PPO.

Urine specimens collected from the said police officers have been examined for methamphetamine hydrochloride ‘shabu’ and marijuana.


All specimens taken from the 241 personnel later yielded a negative result.


Unannounced and random drug testing of police officers is part of the PNP Internal Cleansing Program. It is a regular activity where the cops are picked randomly during unannounced drug testing in order to ensure that no member is involved in any forms and use of illegal contrabands.
