Tabuk City, Kalinga – No major untoward incidents were observed in Cordillera since the start of the Misa de Gallo until Christmas Day, the Philippine National Police - Cordillera announced on December 27, 2022.

From December 16 to December 26, the police in the region monitored a total of 33 crimes of which 8 were categorized under ‘index crime’ or the crimes committed against a person and property.

The figure is lower when compared to the 61 incidents documented in the same period last year.

Despite these 33 crimes recorded, Cordillera Police Regional Director, PBGen. Mafelino Bazar stated that the Christmas celebration in the region was generally peaceful.

"Wala naman tayong na-monitor na major untoward incident na nakaapekto sa pagdiriwang natin ng kapaskuhan dito sa Cordillera region," he informed.

Bazar acknowledged the efforts of the uniformed personnel in the Cordillera for providing security and for ensuring peace and order this Christmas season.

Security is still heightened for a safe New Year celebration in the Cordillera.
