No one hurt in Tuguegarao bus fire


Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – No one was injured when a passenger bus was engulfed in flames along the Maharlika Highway, Zone 5, Namabbalan Sur, Tuguegarao City, on Sunday, November 19.


The bus came from Baguio City and was ferrying nine passengers.


The fire started after the right rear wheel of the bus exploded.

Alerted to the situation, the bus driver, identified as Edwin Mendoza Asuncion, immediately parked the bus on the side of the road to check the condition of the bus.


Upon parking, Asuncion saw the rear tire was already on fire, urging him to instruct passengers to alight from the vehicle.


Everyone was able to get off the bus safely, and there were no reported injuries. The belongings of the passengers were also saved from the fire.


It was only the personal belongings of the driver and bus conductor that were burned by the quick spread of the fire.


On the scene were personnel of the Tuguegarao City Fire Station, who quickly headed to the area to extinguish the burning bus.


Meanwhile, an investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of the bus fire.
