NPA abandon camp in Besao; war materials left behind

Besao, Mt. Province – Various war materials owned by the communist terrorist group were discovered by government authorities in an abandoned camp at Sitio Gueday, Besao, Mt. Province on Thursday, July 13.


While conducting reconnaissance and combat clearing operation on said date, soldiers and police officers chanced upon the camp.


When they checked it, they discovered explosives which include 3 sticks dynamite commercial with marking Nitro EM 1500 Emulsion, 2 pieces Improvised Explosive Device (Lemor type) and an M67 hand grenade.

Other war materials were also found such as bandolier, 4 pieces extension wire, 2 roll wires/ allied brand, handheld radio, cellphone chargers, Automatic Voltage regulator, bolo, 2 pieces sleeping bags, and six pieces trapal.


Also seized were assorted male and female clothes, watch bulb, 7 drums serving as rice storage, saw, and other personal belongings of said group.


In a statement, Mt. Province police said the discovery of said materials is a product of ‘the relentless efforts of the PNP’ as well as the active support of yBesaos in putting an end to insurgency within the municipality.


“The increasing support from the community is a clear manifestation that the presence of the armed group in the area was unwanted. We thank the residents for giving us vital information that leads to the accomplishments,” PNP Mt. Province said.


They further urged the public to immediately report to them any illicit activities of the communist terrorist group.
