NPA-free barangay in Kalinga to get P20 M incentive

Rizal, Kalinga – having maintained a community free from the presence and influence of communist terrorists, Barangay Babalag East of this town will be receiving P20 million from the national government as incentive.

According to Northern Luzon Command, the P20 million will be given in the form of community development projects like farm to market roads, classrooms, electrification projects, communal irrigation projects, health centers, and water systems.

Reports from the National Security Adviser also states that the project is ready to roll out by March 15 upon the order of the President since the Department of Budget and Management has already issued the circular for the release of the funds with the documents needed to be submitted anytime soon by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Other recipients of the said government aid include 6 barangays in Cagayan and Abra, 2 in Ilocos Sur, and 1 in Mountain Province and Bulacan.

Lieutenant General Arnulfo Marcelo B. Burgos Jr., Commander of Northern Luzon Command commended the 17 barangays for adhering to the call of the government to end the local communist armed conflict.

"The active support and cooperation of the officials and the residents of these barangays manifested their earnest desire to answer the call of the government to end the menace of the communist terrorists in their respective communities. Indeed, they deserve the aid granted to them by the government for their steadfast commitment and dedication to ending the local communist armed conflict," he said.

He further encouraged the recipients to sustain and enhance their efforts to prevent the resurgence of communist activities in their community as he encouraged other barangays to emulate what these 17 barangays accomplished.

Meanwhile, a total of 822 barangays across the country will be the recipients of said P20 million government aid.
