Olympic bronze medalists Nesthy and Aira are alumnae of University of Baguio

Baguio City, Philippines – Among the institutions that could not be prouder of Olympians Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio is their very own alma mater, the University of Baguio.

Both Villegas and Petecio did not hold back and boxed their way to the podium in the 2024 Paris Olympics.  

Villegas won bronze, the country’s third medal in the Paris games, on Wednesday this week, August 07. She played in the women's boxing 50kg semis.

Petecio, on the other hand, secured the same medal in the 57-kg semis.

University of Baguio, in a Facebook post, commended the two Olympic medalists for representing the country and for their podium finish in the biggest sporting event in the globe.

“These #UniversityOfBaguio alumnae continue to inspire us with their unwavering determination and talent. We're beyond proud of both of you! Salamat sa laban, Nesthy and Aira, from your UB and Syndrome families!” UB wrote.

Said university also expressed its appreciation to their two other alumni who played for the Philippines in the 2024 Paris games, Eumir Felix Marcial and Carlo Paalam.
