Online marketing pushed to boost sales of Kalinga MSMEs

Tabuk City, Kalinga―Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office is backing online marketing of the products of micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province to improve sales amid the impact of the pandemic.

Sales of many local businesses in Kalinga have been reportedly dived during the Luzon wide lockdown and fluctuated at a low level thereafter impelling cut backs on production.

Ms. Aurelia Sanet of DTI-Kalinga revealed that with the pandemic, the restrictions on movement became the largest impediment in doing face-to-face marketing. Since the situation sees no change in the near future, the agency is trying its best to migrate the entrepreneurs to marketing their products on social media.

“Naapektuhan sila sa pandemic so we are trying our best to market their product on social media because they are reporting every month, at least diyay na-promote nga products are enhanced. As of now, by posting on social media, most of them nag increase ang sales,” she said.

Social media marketing and OTOP Hub

In line with this, DTI set out into social media promotion, matching MSMEs to other business people in the OTOP hub in Tabuk city, grocery stores, and referral to OTOPs located in different provinces.

“As much as we would like to help them, kayat mi nga ag increase ti sales, income da thru their product so we have to see to it nga ma-develop tapno maging competitive da in the market, haan da nga ma-left out, kayat mi nga mailako, mai-promote considering our situation tatta,” she said.

Sanet underscored that with the program’s aim for product development, she assured that the products from the municipalities and the city will not only consumed within the province but also in different areas of the country.
