Bugnay, Tinglayan – With the recent heavy rains experienced in the municipality, a huge erosion happened along the Tinglayan road going to Bontoc, prompting the MDDRM Office of Tinglayan to issue an advisory prohibiting huge and heavy vehicles to pass through.

The advisory was released after the office was notified that a portion of the road in Sitio Makilo, Bugnay collapsed on Tuesday, July 19.

The collapsed road makes it impossible for bigger vehicles to go through.

“…dagiti buses ket han da mabalin magna, and dagituy other vehicles, if possible ket nu adda dituy nga banda ket, bumaba dagituy passengers da,” Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Clemente Basing-at said in an interview.

According to Basing-at, they were informed by a motorist regarding the situation of the road evening of Tuesday.

They proceeded to the area to monitor early morning of Wednesday, July 20 and put a caution tape as a warning device for motorists and passers-by.

“Ingga na tatta ket awan pay lang ti ongoing nga restoration na ta nu widening, haan nga mabalin nga ma-widening ta rocks, batu dagidiay igid na,” Basing-at said.

Basing-at added that the road can only be fixed if the eroded portion of the road will be restored.

He said the situation is already reported to the Department of Public Works and Highways – Upper Kalinga District Engineering Office.

As to DPWH-UKDEO, their maintenance crew headed to the area morning of Wednesday, July 20 and conduct remedial measures, including installation of signages on the eroded portion of the road.
