Tabuk City, Kalinga - Governor James Edduba spoke to Kalinga Overseas Filipino Workers in Israel after the latter staged their own Kalinga Day celebration in Tel Aviv last February 17, 2023, emphasizing the need to practice and be proud of one's culture and identity.

The video message of the governor which was played during the simple celebration spoke of Kalinga setting two Guinness World Records - the Largest Number of Gong Ensemble in the World and Largest Banga Dance in the World, which he described as something that brought pride to the province.

Edduba recalled that more than 8 thousand men and women who joined the challenge for said world titles waited for hours only to be greeted with rain. Nevertheless, their sacrifices were worth it.

“For almost 9 hours nga agtatakder, dagiay lallakay ken uubbing, babaket, then they were exposed to the rain. Adda pay dagiti daduma nga ag-tigtigerrger ti lammiis da isunga I had to go down met lang nga tapnu makita da met nga han nga isuda lang ti mabasbasa. (They are not alone),” told Edduba.

“It was really a sacrifice and I was really emotional. Until now I am very emotional every time I remember diay sakripisyo da piman,” added the Governor.

With this, Edduba emphasized that yKalingas showing the world that they can achieve such is an indication that every yKalinga can sacrifice and support the province wherever they may be.

“Alaen tayu daytuy nga opportunity nga impakita tayu iti lubong nga we can do this. And I hope nga we can do this (for) our province, let us support each other,” said Edduba.

He then encouraged them, the “unsung heroes”, to keep the Kalinga customs alive and to support each other abroad.

“And if you’re going to do this, if you’re going to continue helping each other, I know nga mabalin diay ibagbaga tayu nga Lumin-awa Kalinga (nga isu iti) wishes ko kinyayu amin… Congratulations ti celebration yu iti Kalinga day dita, congratulations met kadagiti pamilya yu nga ada dituy Kalinga ket iyawis ko manen nga please continue supporting each other and also continue supporting our province,” Edduba concluded.
