Outgoing SK officials in Tinglayan undergo leadership training

Tinglayan, Kalinga – To prepare them for their responsibilities on a wider horizon as they continue their role as nation-builders, Sangguniang Kabataan officials in Tinglayan had a leadership training from Oct. 17–19, 2023 in Talisay, Batangas.

The training spearheaded by the Local Youth Development Officers Viola Baculi and Luisa Solog was done not only to capacitate the young leaders with leadership skills, but was also conducted to show appreciation for what they have contributed to their community for the last five years.

According to the municipal government, being a youth official is not an easy feat; thus, appreciating them through the training cum excursion was initiated.

“They carry the responsibility to lead, create development plans, initiate, and implement projects and programs like good governance, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and resiliency, youth employment and livelihood, health and anti-drug abuse, gender sensitivity, and sports development in coordination with local and national agencies,” the local government said.

In their three-day training, the 17 SK officials were engaged in fun and meaningful activities necessary to enhance their leadership skills, camaraderie, and cohesiveness.

Apart from the training, they were also immersed with the locals in the area, giving them the chance to learn about their culture, their art, and their practices, among others.

“Through this 3-day experience, the LGU is optimistic that all the outgoing SK, albeit about to step down from their positions, will continue to be models and leaders in their community and serve vital roles in nation-building in their own distinctive ways,” Tinglayan LGU wrote.
