Over 100 Balbalan young leaders participate in Leadership Summit and Youth Camp 2024

Balbalan, Kalinga – More than a hundred Balbalan youth were empowered through fun-filled activities during the Balbalan Municipal Youth Camp - Youth Leadership Summit on June 12 – 14 at Balbalan Central School in Poblacion.

The camp was initiated by the Local Government Unit through Mayor Almar Malannag’s and Vice Mayor Rowina Damian’s leadership in partnership with the 503rd Infantry Brigade.

During the 3-day event, the 117 youngsters underwent lectures on Deceptive Recruitment of Communist Terrorist Groups, Adolescent Mental Health, Teenage Pregnancy, Transformation Leadership, and Effects of Drugs on Youth.

The participants also had fun team-building activities and workshops where they got muddy, creative, and enjoyed each moment while working together on different tasks.

The summit was held to raise awareness of the government’s campaigns and to cultivate patriotism among the participants. It also aimed to empower them as what Mayor Malannag earlier said about the youth being the next leaders and initiators of development in Balbalan.

This year’s youth camp and leadership summit marked the theme: “Unleashing the Potential of Youth: Building Bonds and Promoting Peace.”
