Over 5,400 families in Apayao benefit from DSWD 4Ps program as of August 2023

Pudtol, Apayao - About 5,400 families in Apayao are benefiting from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Cordillera.


DSWD - Cordillera, according to the Apayao Provincial Public Information Office, registered a total of 5,442 beneficiaries in the province as of Aug. 30, 2023.

This makes up 12.88 percent of the total number of household recipients in the Cordillera region, which equates to 42,226 individuals.


Of the 7 municipalities in Apayao , Kabugao listed the highest number of recipients with 1,333 families, followed by Conner with 1,259, Flora - 683, Pudtol - 677, Luna - 621, Calanasan - 497, and Santa Marcela - 372.


4Ps is a national program that provides seven-year cash aid to economically disadvantaged families, which aims to reduce poverty in the country.


The assistance given to the beneficiaries is divided into three categories - educational grants of P300 each for elementary students, P500 for junior high school, and P700 for senior high school.


An additional health care assistance of P750 and P600 rice subsidies were also given to the family of these students.


While some beneficiaries might have graduated from the program this year, DSWD - Cordillera informed that new qualified recipients will be added soon.
