Luna, Apayao – Apayao province is set to welcome over 6,000 delegates from various Schools Division Offices in Cordillera this weekend as the opening program for the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet is scheduled this Monday, April 15.

The delegates shall convene at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex in Payanan, Luna for the opening program this Monday, April 15 and games will follow afterwards.

The host province is expected to send the largest number of delegates in the region largest sporting event for student-athletes while the province of Abra will have the least number, according to the Department of Education - Cordillera.

In the conduct of the event, DepEd-Philippines has allotted P3 million for the meals and snacks, uniforms, and transportation of the participants.

In addition to said fund is the P10 million earmarked by the provincial government unit and the P750,000 from Dep-Ed Cordillera.

Moreover, the provincial government of Apayao has also pledged to provide additional funding when needed.

Meantime, considering the harsh conditions of the weather these days, the agency is planning not to conduct outdoor games from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This is also to safeguard the health and well-being of student-athletes while embarking on their CARAA 2024 journey.

As scheduled, the closing program will be held on Friday, April 19.
