Over 8,000 workers employed by Apayao MSMEs in 2023


Luna, Apayao - The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Apayao significantly contributed to the province's economic growth by providing employment opportunities to over 8,000 Apayao residents in 2023.

 

This information is based on data from the Provincial MSME Development Council, as reported by DTI Apayao Provincial Director Wena Buston on January 8, 2024.

 

The data revealed that a total of 8,690 residents were employed by MSMEs in the previous year, representing 11 percent of the 75,697 people employed.

 

The Apayao Provincial Public Information Office highlighted that this achievement underscores how MSMEs in the province not only drive economic growth but also improve livelihoods.

 

As of 2023, 4,594 MSMEs in Apayao were actively operating across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, and services.

 

Among these MSMEs, there were 4,538 micro-enterprises, 52 small enterprises, 4 medium enterprises, and 2 large enterprises.

 

Luna holds the largest market share, accounting for 25 percent, and boasts the highest count of enterprises successfully transitioning from small to medium scale.

 

On the other hand, Flora reported the highest number of enterprises currently scaling up, specifically from micro to small scale.
