Over two thousand families suffer from flooding in Cagayan


Cagayan, Philippines – Over two thousand families in Cagayan were reported to have been affected by the flooding brought about by the Typhoon ‘Maring’ as of 11:00 AM of October 12.


In a situational report released by Cagayan Provincial Information Office, a total of 2,820 families or 13,819 people were affected by the onslaught of the typhoon in the province.


Also, a total of 959 families or 3,443 people were evacuated from their houses. Of this, 791 households or 2,879 individuals have stayed inside evacuation, while 168 families or 564 persons stayed outside evacuation.

Meanwhile, there are two casualties reported in the province. One in Iguig was said to have drowned after the water level increased in their area while the other was in Claveria, who also drowned while conducting an inspection at the Port of the municipality.


As of 5:00 PM of October 12, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “MARING” was estimated based on all available data over 505 km West of Calayan, Cagayan, according to PAGASA Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 27.
