Over P286M solar studs light up Kalinga-Cagayan Road

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The national road from Tabuk City to Enrile, Cagayan is now safer and clearer for travelers at night with the newly-installed road safety devices called solar-powered road studs.

The solar-powered safety devices provide luminous and reflective properties for travelers at night improving visibility even during adverse weather conditions on said major road connecting Kalinga to Cagayan.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Cordillera, putting up said road studs cost the government P190.9 million.

Said fund covers the implementation of two projects along Kalinga-Cagayan Road (Calanan-Enrile Section) in Tabuk City, according to the agency.

District Engineer Ruby Uyam said a total of 14,408 solar-powered road studs were then put up along the 12.47-kilometer portion of Kalinga-Cagayan Road in the city.

Along with the road studs were reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings for center line, edge lines and pedestrian lanes.

Meantime, 7,000 solar road studs and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings along the 7.48-kilometer Liwan West – Babalag-Macutay roads were likewise installed.

The implementation of said project cost up to P95.5 million, according to DPWH-Cordillera.
