Over P1M cash stolen from shopping center in Cagayan; suspects still at large

Sanchez Mira, Cagayan - What was supposed to be an ordinary day at a shopping center in Cagayan on Tuesday, February 25, turned into a crime scene.


The shopping center, located in Barangay Centro 1, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan, was burglarized on the evening of Monday, February 24. Investigators believe that four men were involved in the crime.


According to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office, the suspects were able to enter into the establishment by forcibly cutting the padlock of the back door.


The following morning, February 25, it was then that the mall owner and its manager were shocked upon discovering the burglary. The two immediately reported the matter to the authorities, who launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspects.


According to the owner and manager, in an interview with the police, the thieves destroyed the shopping center’s vault and stole an estimated P1 million in cash.


As of this writing, police are now conducting an in-depth investigation to establish the identity of those responsible for the crime. CCTV footage is under examination to assist in identifying them.
