Over P4M AKAP aid benefits 1,620 ‘near poor’ iKalingas

Tabuk City, Kalinga – More or less 1,620 iKalingas benefitted in a pay-out done Friday, September 20, at the Kalinga Sports Center which was made possible via the Ayuda Para sa KAPOS ang Kita (AKAP) program.

The program targets ‘near poor’ individuals, minimum wage earners, and those working under the informal sector.

The provincial local government unit, on said pay-out, specifically accommodated barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, and those considered as ‘rehabilitated individuals’.

These came from various localities in the province which include those belonging to said groups from Tabuk City, Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tanudan, Tinglayan, Balbalan, Lubuagan, and Pasil. Each recipient received P3,000 each.

The conduct of said activity was facilitated by personnel of SWAD Kalinga, Office of the Provincial Governor, and the Provincial Local Youth Development Office.

This is the first wave of the distribution of aid coming from said program. Funds were outsourced by the provincial governor through the office of the congress’ house speaker.

As reported by PLGU Kalinga, outsourced funds amounted to P10 million.

“By offering direct monetary aid, the program aims to help alleviate the immediate financial burden faced by disadvantaged individuals, enabling them to meet essential needs and support their households,” the local government wrote.

AKAP program is under the P500 billion social amelioration program, dedicated to at least 12 million poor and low-income families in the country.

This is funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2024.
