OWWA and Tinglayan LGU educate OFW families on services and aid available for them

Tinglayan, Kalinga – To foster awareness of the programs and services of the agency dedicated to dependents of OFWs, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in partnership with the local government unit of Tinglayan, held the Parokya ng OWWA sa Barangay at Pamilyang OFWs program on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

The activity is designed to provide orientation to families of either active or inactive OFWs on the programs and services of OWWA they could avail of.

These include social benefits, education, and training assistance, workers' welfare assistance and social services, family welfare services, and other special projects by the agency.

Apart from the orientation, the attendees benefitted from free medical services that included eye irrigation and consultation.

During the event, OWWA Regional Director Martel Dasayon underscored the essential role of OWWA in ensuring that OFWs and their dependents get the benefits they ought to receive from the agency.

Dasayon likewise expressed his gratitude to the local government and the event’s attendees for their presence and support.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, in response, thanked the agency for bringing their services closer to Tinglayanos, underlining that such activity is of significance to his constituents, given the distance of their municipality to the province’s OWWA office.

For the attendees, Gumilab advised them to utilize the monetary support they are getting from their OFW parents, along with what they are receiving from the government wisely.

This is by making sure that they get to finish their studies to reciprocate their parent’s efforts and sacrifices.
