P.1M violations fees collected during ‘One-Time Big-Time’ traffic laws implementation in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – More than a hundred thousand pesos in fines was collected in a one-day simultaneous traffic laws implementation in Kalinga on July 16, 2024.

The activity dubbed as ‘One-Time Big-Time’ was conducted in response to the still high number of road crash incidents in the province. The latest casualty involved a rider whose motorcycle crashed at the side of the road in Dagupan Centro on July 15.

Through this ‘One-Time Big-Time’, authorities from the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, PNP Highway Patrol Group, and the Land Transportation Office setup various checkpoints on strategic places in the province.

This resulted into the 257 traffic citations issued – 85 for no helmet, 32 no or expired driver’s license, 37 no OR/CR, 1 expired registration, 3 no seatbelt, and 99 other violations. Authorities likewise monitored 257 violations of local ordinances.

KPPO reported all of these citations yielded a total fine of P167,200.

Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig emphasized that these traffic laws and regulations should be followed and implemented as it helps show to the people “the difference between life and death when violated.”
