P.4M housing aid given to 14 quake-affected families in Pasil, Kalinga

Pasil, Kalinga – True to their words, the German doctors who volunteered in Pasil for the past five years gave P420,000 shelter assistance to the 14 families in the municipality whose house were totally wrecked by the magnitude 7 quake that jolted Northern Luzon on July 27.

To recall, the five-year contract between the German Doctors Inc. under Medical Director, Dr. Gerhard Steinmaier and the local government of Pasil led by Mayor Malannag Jr. officially ended earlier this year.

During their stay in the municipality, the German doctors rendered free medical services including health workers’ training and free cataract surgeries.

In August, the municipality held a tribute party to show appreciation to the services of the foreign doctors. The doctors then pledged housing aid for said quake-affected families.

On Monday, September 05, Dr. Steinmaier with the assistance of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Marlyn Pagutayao and Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Aldrin Siwao distributed P30,000 cash aid to each of the 14 families.

Among the recipients, according to Siwao, are Benjie Amangan, Randy Tocmo, Jane Amangan, Francel Lataan, Argie Amangan, Romana Tullabang, Yvonne Baggas, Wilson Ganni, Susan Yangnga, Efren Omli, Joseph Abbacan, James Amangan, Ruben Baddongon, and Anibet Ticnang.

The list of beneficiaries, his office said, was based on the final assessment of the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) team who validated the submitted quake reports.

The MDRRM council headed by Mayor Malannag expressed gratitude to the German doctors along with their staff for their immediate response to the affected families.

All those affected by the tremor in the locality earlier received family food packs and kits from the regional Department of Social Welfare and Development, through the coordination of the local officials.
