P.4M improvement of communal irrigation in Lubo, Tanudan addressed farmers’ concerns over flooding

Tanudan, Kalinga – Addressing the concerns of farmers in Lower Lubo, the Patpat Communal Irrigation System has been improved with the concreting of its 83-meter canal lining on June 3, 2022.

Municipal Engineer Mike Tongnawa mentioned that the Tanudan Local Government Unit under the leadership of Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag appropriated funding of P400,000 from their 2022 Development budget.

The Patpat CIS has been around for decades servicing the farmers in the area. However, the farmers worry about their crops during the rainy season as the irrigation usually overflows flooding their fields, and damaging their crops.

“Isu nga nai-priority daytoy tapnu haan ngay nga agbara-barado diay canal. Ta nu adda maiyanod idiay ngatu nga for example kayo, ruot, anya man dita, agder-deretso kuma idiay baba. Haan nga agsarde-sardeng idiay along the irrigation canal ket ag-flood manen,” Tongnawa explained.

“Very rough gamin ta haan garud nasemento ditoy igid na ken datar na, agpullat ngay. Tapos nu agpullat, ag-overflow danum kadagiay taltalon,” he added.

With the completion of the project, it is expected that the waste will flow with the water and will no longer be stuck at the irrigation canal.
