P.5M tramline in Luplupa, Tinglayan now operational

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Hauling of agricultural goods is now a lot easier for Tinglayanos in Barangay Luplupa with the establishment of a 220-meter tramline in the area.

Residents of Barangay Luplupa are upland farmers, and now that a tramline with a capacity of 400 kilograms has been constructed in the area, the backbreaking and time-consuming practice of physical cargo hauling will no longer be the trend.

In upland farming, farm inputs must be acquired during planting seasons in the market, and with the help of the tramline, it will be hauled going to their farms.

As the tramline returned to where it obtained the farm inputs, this is also the time that produce from the farm, such as upland rice and vegetables, is transported back to the road.

In a statement, Barangay Captain Laurel Tambalong relayed that the tramline, considered a priority project, was proposed in 2018 and was only implemented this year.

With a fund amounting to P500,000 from the 20 percent Development Fund of the local government of Tinglayan, the project was pursued.

After its completion, a turn-over ceremony was immediately conducted on Thursday, June 15 giving Barangay Luplupa the right to operate said project, alongside its maintenance.

“It was proposed to lessen the burden on transporting goods. This would greatly help to increase the income of the community,” Tambalong said.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, meantime said the local government prioritized the funding of the project since he is aware of how difficult the transportation of goods in the area is.

“It is crucial in the developmental activities of Barangay Luplupa so we at the LGU, granted the funding of the project,” said the lawyer-politician.

“We just hope that our constituents in Luplupa will take good care of the project for it to successfully serve its purpose," he added.
