P1.2B TUPAD program to aid 200,000 displaced workers in CAR

Baguio City, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Cordillera said the department is set to help 200,000 displaced workers this year through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.


In a report of Mountain Province Broadcasting Corporation on May 13, 2022, DOLE -CAR Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra was mentioned saying the fund allotted this year for said program amounts to P1.2 billion.

In said program, displaced workers will be provided with emergency employment – accomplishing community projects for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days.


For the first quarter, Lacambra said an amount of P94, 700,000 was already disbursed and was given to 17,464 beneficiaries.


He added that in 2021, an amount of P840, 248, 000 were given to 141, 709 displaced workers in the region.


Further, Lacambra explained that there is a guideline being followed in identifying beneficiaries for the program and that not every person is qualified.

Some sectors mentioned who cannot qualify for the program are barangay officials, barangay health workers, Tanods, 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) member and senior citizens who are benefitting from other government agencies.


Those who already benefitted from the program, he clarified can avail the program again provided that they are still categorized as displaced or disadvantaged workers.
