P1.3M goat production awarded to farmers' associations in Rizal, Kalinga

Updated: Oct 7, 2021

Rizal, Kalinga—With the granting of P1,329,000 goat production project from the Department of Agriculture through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program, the Romualdez Farmers Association (RFA) and Calagango People's Association Inc. (CAPI) will soon be starting a profitable goat raising business in this town.

The RFA received 45 does and 5 bucks for their multiplier farm project on September 22, while each of the 70 members of CAPI was provided with a doe and 14 bucks, which were distributed to each sub-group on October 4, 2021.

SAAD noted that RFA built their own temporary holding area, which will be developed to house the 50 goats they received.

In a statement, Leah Mon of the SAAD Regional Office urged the groups to improve their policies as this could strengthen their organization, emphasizing that doing this is a big factor in attaining sustainable and well-implemented projects.

Further, the agency said that inspection of the interventions and brief orientation on goat production was made through Dr. Florencio Wanason.

SAAD is a locally funded program of the Department of Agriculture that aims to provide livelihood among the marginalized sectors, particularly in the Agriculture and Fishery sector.

Leading the distribution were personnel from SAAD Kalinga in coordination with the Office for Provincial Veterinary Services and the municipal local government of Rizal.
