P1.4M ‘kabuhayan packages’ benefit 72 Aguinaldoans

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – The “kabuhayan packages” worth P1,488,930 bring new hope to 72 recipients belonging to marginalized groups in Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

The packages are from the Department of Labor and Employment’s Integrated Livelihood Program or the Kabuhayan Program.

The agency’s flagship program aims to provide assistance and inclusive opportunities to empower and support the vulnerable, disadvantaged, and marginalized workers towards economic alleviation.

Aguinaldo local government, in coordination with DOLE, distributed on Tuesday, July 18, the livelihood assistance at the municipal gymnasium in Galonogon village.

Of the total beneficiaries, 23 are from Barangay Halag, 20 from Ubao, 6 from Galonogon, 4 each from Bunhian and Mongayang, 3 each from Damag and Talite, 2 each from Ta-ang, Awayan, and Jacmal, and 1 each from Majlong, Chalalo and Posnaan.

The packages contain starter kits which vary depending on the livelihood project of beneficiaries’ choice. These will serve as capital for them to start small businesses such as food processing, and trading, among others.

Present at the event were Labor and Employment Officer III Dave Damoyan of DOLE - Ifugao Field Office joined by Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr. represented by Liaison Officer Ogie Potangna and LEO I Jeanette Maanao of Public Employment Service Office – Aguinaldo.

Speaking before the recipients, the mayor in his message delivered by his representative urged the grantees to make use of the starter kits as intended - boost their entrepreneurial undertaking, increase profitability, and eventually achieve long-term financial independence by sustaining their endeavor.

Expressing gratitude to the individuals behind the assistance, the beneficiaries committed to using the materials and equipment given for their entrepreneurial pursuits.
