P1.4M Marijuana abandoned along road in Lubuagan, Kalinga


Lubuagan, Kalinga –Kalinga police recovered P1.4 million worth of Marijuana inside a traveling bag abandoned along the road at Sitio Balangabang, Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga.


It is suspected that the illegal weed should have been picked up and transported on Thursday, August 1, but authorities were notified through a phone call regarding the contraband.


When they arrived at the area where it was, they found semi-processed tubular Marijuana placed inside the traveling bag. In a transparent, zip lock plastic, dried marijuana leaves were likewise found.


There were 10 tubulars of Marijuana and dried marijuana leaves weighing 12,000 grams discovered.


Others recovered at the scene were three bag packs of different colors, and assorted clothes.


The items were transported to the municipal police station of Lubuagan for proper disposition following an inventory witnessed by a barangay official and a representative from the Department of Justice.


The contraband was later subjected to examination at the Kalinga Provincial Forensic Unit.


Meantime, PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig, the Kalinga Police Provincial Director, ordered a deeper investigation and the identification and arrest of those involved in the foiled attempt to transport the illegal weed.
