P16.7M allotted to support Cordilleran athletes for Palarong Pambansa 2024

Tabuk City, Kalinga – More than P16 million was allotted to support the Cordillera delegation to participate in the upcoming 2024 Palarong Pambansa.   

 

This year’s biggest gathering of student-athletes in the Philippines will be held in Cebu City on July 9-16. The sporting event is expected to gather over 12,000 athletes and coaches from 17 regional delegations in the country and two new participating delegations, the National Academy of Sports and the Philippine Schools Overseas.

 

Of the figure, 706 will come from the Cordillera. The number is composed of 463 players; 120 coaches, assistant coaches, and chaperones; 93 technical working groups; 15 Schools Division Superintendents(SDS) and Assistant SDS; and 15 governors and congressman.

 

To cover the cost and expenses for the Cordillera delegation, the Department of Education Cordillera allotted P16,789,857.25.

 

The funding will cover uniforms, airfare, meals, transportation, allowances, miscellaneous expenses, and a contingency fund.  

 

DepEd says that the Cordillera delegation is now ready to represent the region and to elevate last year’s top 9 ranking.
