P174M bridge and road projects to be implemented in Balbalan and Tanudan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Over P174 million in project funding was granted to the Province of Kalinga to cover much-needed bridge and road projects in Balbalan and Tanudan.

 

The budget was recently approved by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) through the request of Governor James Edduba.

 

According to the Kalinga Provincial Information Office, P85,000,000 of the funding will be allotted for a bridge in Poswoy, Balbalan that will connect the community to other villages, while P4,833,789.93 will be for road construction in the area.


The remaining P85,000,000 will be for the construction of a road connecting Mangali-Taloctoc in Tanudan to Mabongtot, Lubuagan.

 

To prepare for the initial downloading of 80% of the budget, Governor Edduba convened on June 6 the team in charge of the projects to discuss plans and expedite the completion of documentary requirements.

 

The governor who is grateful to the OPAPRU for the multi-million funding explained that these bridge and road projects in Balbalan and Tanudan are what the communities have been clamoring for the past years.

 

“Nabayag nga dawdawaten iti umili dagituyen nga proyekto. Agyaman tayo ta tadta ket nangngeg ti ngato (higher officials) iti rikna tayo ken dagiyay kasasapulan dagituy maikkan nga munisipyo,” he said, adding that the OPAPRU noticed Kalinga’s commitment to peace through the record-breaking ‘Awong ti Gangsa, Agtu'n Chi Banga’.
