P174M bridge, road projects in Tanudan, Balbalan soon to be implemented

Tabuk City, Kalinga – With the intent of successfully implementing the bridge and road projects for Balbalan and Tanudan, a validation for said projects was set during the visit of a team from the national government in Kalinga on Tuesday, June 25.

The validation of such projects marks a crucial phase in the preparation and planning for the soon-to-be implemented infrastructure developments in Kalinga.

The visit was made with the request of the provincial government to the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU).

While the validation date was not yet announced, the provincial government said that the process would hasten the implementation of the projects necessary for connectivity and progress for the benefitting communities that were once isolated due to absence of accessible roads and bridges.

The projects include the P85 million worth bridge in Poswoy Balbalan, another P4.8 million for a road project in same area and the P85 million worth Banagao-Mangali, Tanudan - Barangay Mabongtot in Lubuagan road project.

The projects’ funding was through the PAMANA Program and was officially granted to the province in March this year through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing.

The MOA signing came about at the Philippine International Convention Center which was attended by Governor James Edduba.

Through PAMANA, various projects such as infrastructure development, capacity-building, and livelihood projects are being carried out as these moves are seen to foster peace, stability, and inclusive growth to conflict-affected areas.

As earlier mentioned by Edduba, OPAPRU – the implementing agency of the PAMANA program noticed Kalinga’s commitment to peace following the record-breaking ‘Awong ti Gangsa, Agtu'n Chi Banga’ held February last year.
