P2.2M Marijuana bricks found at Nambaran Artistic Tombs, in Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A failed attempt to transport illegal drugs happened in Tabuk City over the weekend after bricks of Marijuana were found at a cemetery in Nambaran by the authorities on January 26, 2025.

 

It is believed that the transporters left the bricks of Marijuana there for pick up but the contraband was discovered first by the barangay officials before the transaction could be made.

 

The transport and selling of illegal drugs have been among the concerns of authorities in the city as it is known that annually, authorities burn millions worth of Marijuana plants in Kalinga. Last year alone, the Tabuk City police conducted a total of 37 anti-illegal drugs operation which led to the confiscation of P33,676,391 worth of contraband - P32,095,989 were marijuana products.

 

Said operations likewise led to the arrest of 46 drug personalities.

 

On Sunday noon, the anti-narcotics personnel of the Tabuk City Police Station proceeded to the Nambaran Artistic Tombs in Ileb after receiving a call from a barangay official about suspected Marijuana bricks left at the cemetery.

 

Arriving at the site, the police found a sack containing 19 bricks of suspected marijuana fruiting tops. The contraband is estimated to have a worth of P2,280,000.

 

Right there, the cops inventoried the illegal drugs in the presence of the barangay officials, media, and the Department of Justice. The confiscated bricks were later turned over to the Kalinga Crime Laboratory for their proper disposition.
