Tanudan, Kalinga ― Availability and access to potable water supply in lower Tanudan shall no longer be a huge problem with the construction of P24.3 million worth of Level III waterworks and is expected to be completed by January 2022.

The level III waterworks system is expected to benefit Sitios Alubaggan, Baccong, Bawac, Se-et, and Barangays Lower Taloctoc and Lower Mangali.

In Sitios Alubaggan, Baccong, Bawac, and Barangays Lower Taloctoc and Lower Mangali, a 5,000 gallons capacity of water reservoir each will be installed while 20,000 gallons capacity reservoir will be installed for Se-et, Mabaca since it is near to the Sub-Municipal Hall and elementary school.

According to Fernando Cosidon of the Office of the Congressman, the funding of the project was worked out from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) through the initiative of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang, adding that the need to expand the waterworks systems of the said areas became necessary since the supply of clean water to households has been inadequate.

“With the level III, it means the pipeline will go to the end of the households, then from the main pipe, the household-beneficiaries will connect their own individual household host with their water meter nga pagbasaran ti mabayadan,” Cosidon explained.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag related that the project was requested together with the barangay officials with their aim to prioritize providing safe and potable water to the sitios and barangays.

“Idiay Lower Tanudan water supply gamin ti talaga nga kailangan da ta agkurang ti water source while idiay upper Tanudan gamin ket sobra ti danum da isunga agyaman kami ta nai-priority ni Congressman Mangaoang daytoy nga project,” he expressed.

In order to maintain the waterworks system and provide enough water supply, Cosidon mentioned that the creation of an ordinance was recommended. The ordinance shall form the legal basis for the utilization of fees collected and for the appointment of officers to run the waterworks.

The ordinance is also expected to exact accountability and responsibility from the officers who shall ensure the sustainability of the project.
