P25M lost to grocery store fire in Abra

Lagangilang, Abra – A fire burnt a grocery store owned by 73-year -old Vicente Barbosa Bade in Lagangilang, Abra early morning on Tuesday, September 20.


It took 4 hours before the fire was controlled as the blaze broke out past 2 AM and was only extinguished around 7 AM.


The cause of the fire is still being investigated.


The Bureau of Fire Office in Lagangilang reported that the blaze resulted in estimated damage to properties of about P25 million. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries in the incident.

‘Lagangilang Fire Station not operational’


In a statement on Facebook, Lagangilang Mayor Ruby Villamor said the fire station in the municipality is not yet operational and that at present, the fire station has no firetruck.


Said statement was made along with her message of gratitude to the fire stations of nearby municipalities who were on the rescue after being notified of the fire incident.


Bureau of Fire Protection stations who were called for help are Dolores, Tayum, San Juan, Bangued and Sallapadan.

As mentioned in her post, she already sent request letters and follow-up letters to BFP-CAR and the Department of Interior and Local Government asking for a firetruck.


“I hope and pray nga madenggeg koma metten iti nabayagen nga araraw tayo iti Bureau of Fire nga ag-operate koman dayta nabayagen nga Fire Station tayon, ken maaddaan tayon iti bukod tayon nga Firetruck,” she added.
