P28M allotted for improvement of hospitals in Kalinga in 2025

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Four public hospitals in the province are up for upgrade next year (2025) as they were among hospitals in the Cordillera region to be allocated funding based on the National Expenditure Program (NEP) 2025.

The proposed Fiscal Year 2025 National Expenditure Program has been approved by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last July.

As relayed by officials from the Department of Health-Cordillera to the provincial government on Wednesday, November 6, among infrastructure projects funded under the program include the completion, upgrade and repair of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (P10 million), Juan M. Duyan Memorial District Hospital (P6 million), Pinukpuk District Hospital (P6 million) and Western Kalinga District Hospital (P6 million).

In a report released by the provincial government, they mentioned that the implementation of said projects would be up on their end, but they need to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the DOH-Center for Health Development-Cordillera.

The implementation also requires the provincial government to craft a letter request for fund transfer, a Sanggunian Bayan resolution authorizing the Local Chief Executive to sign the MOA, and a proof of Good Local Governance or Financial Housekeeping.

In addition, there is also a need for the provincial government to submit 100 percent Fund Utilization Report from previous HFEP projects, commitment letters for facility maintenance and adherence to DOH standards, and colored photographs of the existing health facilities.

Provincial Governor James Edduba expressed gratitude for the good news shared by the department, underscoring that the inclusion of the hospitals for funding under NEP 2025 is pivotal in ensuring that Kalinga residents will be provided with vital medical services while also backing the provincial government’s eight point agenda: LUMIN-AWA, particularly Inclusive and Accessible Social Services.
