P2M Abra-Kalinga public park and boundary marker in Balbalan inaugurated

Updated: Jul 4, 2022

Balbalasang, Balbalan – The P2 million worth public park and provincial marker at the Kalinga-Abra border in Balbalasang, Balbalan was inaugurated on Wednesday, June 29.

Upon inauguration, the project was turned over to the barangay local government unit of Balbalasang by the municipal LGU led by outgoing Mayor Eric Gonayon.

Said public park and boundary marker was funded by the national government through the initiative of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang.

The Department of Interior and Local Government Unit were tasked to do the monitoring.

The project started January this year and was completed in June.

Though the project is a public park, most of the fund was allotted to the marker being part of the projects’ package, according to Reginald Wacas, a staff of the congressional office.

In the messages of government officials present during the ceremony, it was said that the political boundary marker is significant as it helps identify the location of the area, the general description of the local populace and tourist attraction sites.

“The site offers a scenic view of the rolling grassy mountains of Abra province, the stunning sea of clouds floating over the protected mountainous virgin forests of the Balbalasang National Park which appear as early as 4:00 AM,” Balbalan LGU said.

The site, they added, offers natural coolness of the area which can be felt almost throughout the year.

Further, it has a strong internet signal making the place frequently visited by locals particularly students and teachers doing their school works and reports.

Meantime, present during the turn-over ceremony were DILG Provincial Director Anthony Manolo Ballug, Engr. Mark Diocares, LGOO II Engelbert Jack Gamatero, MLGOO Mediatrix Alino, municipal LGU personnel, re-elected Sangguniang Bayan Member Rex Dulansi, and Reginald Wacas who represented the province’s lone district representative.
