P300M Balbalan Sports Complex to begin construction in 2025

Balbalan, Kalinga – Athletes in Balbalan will soon enjoy having a training field of their own as the construction of the town’s Sports Complex will begin next year.

Mayor Almar Malannag who visited the site recently informed that the proposed P300 million playing venue will be erected in a 2.5-hectare lot at the Balbalan Agro-Industrial High School (BAIS) in Barangay Balantoy.

Said project was given a green light when Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang allocated a P30 million budget from his Congressional Fund. The local chief executive explained that the construction of the sports complex will be step by step and will be funded progressively.

Malannag elaborated that the P30 million will cover the grounds and the swimming pool, adding that these facilities are going to be the first ones to be constructed as Balbalan is among the producers of swimmers representing Kalinga in the regional athletic meet.

Once the first phase of the sports complex is done, the athletes in Balbalan particularly the swimming team and the players for athletic games will no longer have to go to other places to practice.

“Dagitoy u-ubbing haan dan nga mapan idiay dadduma nga ili nga adda swimming pool na. Ditoy da aminen nga agpractice en. Nu malpas diay first phase na diay sports complex, idiay da mapanen,” he said.

The proposed Balbalan Sports Complex, once completed in the future, will have the standard facilities of a sports complex such as an athletic bowl, playing courts, and administrative building facilities. The project was designed by Municipal Engineer II, Neil Kevin Acosta.
