P325M farm-to-market road in Pinukpuk gets funding approval

Updated: May 29

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Cordillera Regional Project Advisory Board (RPAB) recently approved the proposed P325 million Pinukpuk Junction-Pakawit-Binansagan farm–to-market road in Pinukpuk.

The positive development was relayed by Governor James Edduba during the Provincial Development Council's (PDC) second quarter meeting held Wednesday, May 22.

It was last year when the provincial government of Kalinga started lobbying for funds for the project, and this 2024, the needed funding for its implementation has been assured with the nod from RPAB.

In accordance with the process, said subproject will be endorsed to the National Project Coordination Office for the issuance of No Objection Letter 1.

Following the release of said document, procurement activities for the subproject are expected to commence.

The P12.1 kilometer farm-to-market road, once done would connect three barangays in Pinukpuk, shortening the travel time of its residents, allowing farmers to save transportation costs and reach markets promptly and efficiently.

In an interview with Dionica Legasi, Provincial Information Officer of Kalinga, she said the funding would come from the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

As for the provincial government, it would contribute P10 percent of the total project amount as its counterpart.
