P32.7M Sports Center turned over to Balbalan LGU


Balbalan, Kalinga – The P32.7 million worth Sports Center in Balbalan had its blessing and was turned over by the Department of Public Works and Highways to the Local Government Unit of Balbalan on Tuesday, June 28.

The turn-over of the Kenneth Dale Capuyan Mangaoang Sports center was done alongside the inauguration ceremony for the incoming local officials of the municipality and the oath-taking ceremony of re-elected Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang.

In a press release, Balbalan Information Office said the sports center named after the former mayor of Balbalan was started in 2012 and completed in 2022.

The sports center is funded by the national government through Congressman Mangaoang with the counterpart of the said LGU.

The Congressional office was able to continue providing funds for the construction of said 3-storey edifice until its completion.

As reported, the building has a dimension of 48m x 21m.

The third floor is where a basketball court was built which can be utilized for programs and activities such as conferences, cultural presentations, festivities and other public gatherings.

The second floor, meantime, has 6 rooms with comfort rooms approximately 7m x 6m.


These rooms, Balbalan LGU wrote, will be used to house government officials visiting the municipality and other delegates during festivities or public occasions.

For the ground floor, this shall be a commercial area where goods shall be sold.

Witnessing the ceremony were Congressman Mangaoang, DPWH-Upper Kalinga District Engr. Teodoro Owek, PNP Provincial Director Police Colonel Peter M. Tagtag of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, outgoing Balbalan Mayor Eric Gonayon, and Mayor-Elect Almar Malannag.
