P5.8M marijuana bricks recovered from bag left on Lubuagan road

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Police authorities in Kalinga are now looking for the man who left a bag full of suspected marijuana in Lubuagan on November 20, 2023.


The contraband was discovered stuffed in an army duffle bag abandoned at Jangayoy, Dangoy, Lubuagan on Monday.


According to the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company was alerted of a male rider on board a sport type XR 150 who left a bag in the said area.

When the police arrived at the place, they saw the reported material on the national highway but was partly covered with leaves and branches of trees.


The subject bag was later discovered containing 49 bricks of suspected dried marijuana bricks with an estimated worth of P5,880,000.


The suspected illegal drugs were brought to the Lubuagan Municipal Police Station for documentation and were turned over to the Kalinga Provincial Forensic Unit for examination.


Kalinga PNP Spokesperson, PCapt. Ruff Manganip said that the supposed man who left the bag was not identified, but he was subjected to a follow-up investigation.


Kalinga Police Provincial Director, PCol. Freddie Lazona, for his part, conveyed that the recovery of the contraband showed the trust of the people to the police that they report suspicious and illegal happenings in their surroundings.


“This recent accomplishment of Kalinga PPO is a manifestation of the cooperation and trust of the community to our police officers,” he was quoted saying.
