P5M funding to aid nearly 700 cash-for-work beneficiaries in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Nearly seven hundred iKalingas have been recently added to the list of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers(TUPAD) beneficiaries in the province.

Just this July 30, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Kalinga through the Office of the Provincial Governor James Edduba and the Department of Labor and Employment – Kalinga distributed wages to 673 TUPAD beneficiaries in the province.

These 673 were temporarily employed through the said cash-for-work program and worked in the community for 15 days. Their pay came from the P5 million funding allotted by the DOLE Cordillera for Kalinga.

During the payout, DOLE Kalinga Provincial Director, Avelina Manganip emphasized the positive effects of the TUPAD program in the community, if implemented properly. She added that the payout is timely as the wage could be utilized particularly by the parents to provide for their children’s needs.

For his part, Governor Edduba acknowledged the efforts of those who worked behind to process the funding including the DOLE CAR Regional Director Nathaniel Lacambra for always including Kalinga in the agency’s priorities. Edduba reminded the TUPAD beneficiaries to utilize their wage well and to use it to support their children’s education.
