P6.8 M shabu labelled with Chinese characters found by fishermen in Sanchez Mira

Sanchez Mira, Cagayan – Following an examination made by authorities, a contraband discovered floating by two fishermen on the shoreline of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan was found to be shabu.

On July 29, while the two were fishing particularly at Barangay Masisit, they came across the illegal substance packed in plastic with Chinese markings.

Said markings are similar to those earlier found in the West Philippine Sea, particularly in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.

They later submitted the contraband to the police and was later confirmed by the Regional Forensic Unit to be shabu following appropriate tests.

The illegal substance weighs 1.82 kilograms and has a market value of P6.8 million.

Said incident, according to Cagayan police, exemplified how instrumental the community’s help is in fighting against illegal drugs.

Authorities also appealed to fishermen, barangay and municipal officials, the Philippine Marines, and other agencies to continue helping them in patrolling the sea and the beach.
