P8.8M food packs readied to aid families affected by Typhoon “Kiko”

Baguio City, Philippines – To respond to effects of Typhoon Kiko, the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) stockpiled a total of 17,105 family food packs amounting to P8,827,973.06.


DSWD-CAR, in their report as of 12:00 noon of September 10,2021, stated that the food packs were propositioned in the field offices.


4,963 of the family food packs will be delivered in Apayao, 4,556 in Puguis, La Trinidad Benguet and King’s College, 2,954 in Abra, 2,710 in Kalinga, 1, 029 in Ifugao, and 893 in Mountain Province.


Ready-to-eat-food such as champorado and arrozcaldo will also be given to each of the regional warehouse.

Apart from the family food packs, the department will likewise be distributing essential non-food items to include 679 set and modular tents, 2,408 boxes of sleeping kits, 1,473 boxes of family kits, 1,297 sets of hygiene kits, 1,169 boxes of kitchen kits, 26 rolls of laminated sacks, and 10,661 pcs. of “malong.”


DSWD-CAR is closely monitoring the weather for updates and information while “ensuring the availability of food and non-food items for resource augmentation as need arises.”


The department is continuously updating the directories of active evacuation centers in the region and assures availability of transportation services.
