Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 17,516 farmers in Kalinga are set to receive P87,580,000 financial assistance from the Department of Agriculture this July 2022.

The grant is part of the implementation of the second phase of Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA).

The assistance is a cash transfer to qualified rice farmers, primarily as compensation for their projected income loss due to the drop in ‘palay’ price.

The DA – Cordillera said that eligible rice farmers are those who were not able to receive cash assistance from the RCEF-RFFA distributed in 2021.

Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Juliana B. Aclam said 6,910 of the total farmer-recipients in Kalinga are from Tabuk, 2,970 from Pinukpuk, 1,582 from Balbalan, 1,579 from Tanudan, 1,221 from Rizal, 1,147 from Pasil, 1,109 from Tinglayan, and 998 from Lubuagan.

Each rice farmer will be given P5,000 in unconditional cash assistance.

Regional Executive Director Cameron Odsey assured the department’s continued support to local farmers.
