P9.14M irrigation systems, solar pump turned over to Tabuk farmers

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Agricultural production in 46 hectares of rain-fed rice fields in three barangays of Tabuk City will now be boosted with the turn-over of five communal irrigation systems and a solar pump irrigation project in said areas.


The mass turn-over ceremony held Friday, Sept. 29, in Barangay Lucog was led by National Irrigation Administration-Cordillera Regional Manager, Engr. Benito Espique, Jr.


Accepting the responsibility of taking care of the irrigation systems were Pinagan Dolgadog Irrigators Association (IA) President Paulino Taguibao; Barangay Naneng IA President Jesse Amla; and Gapang Calangacong IA President Macario Pataray.

Turned over irrigation systems, meantime, include the Nayud Balani SPIP, Dolgadog CIS, Coddog Naneng CIS, Kobol Kodog Kobait CIS, Cantong CIS, and Gawidan CIS. These are located in Barangay Bagumbayan, Naneng, and Lucog.


The said projects amount to a total of P9.14 million, according to NIA-Kalinga.


In a statement during the event, NIA Division Manager Engr. Ferdinand Indammog pledged they would add another solar pump irrigation project for Lucog.


Engineer Espique, on the other hand, urged the recipients to take good care of the projects awarded and be responsible for their maintenance since these are beneficial in uplifting the economic situation of farmers, referred to as the backbone of the economy.


Meanwhile, witnessing the ceremony were Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaonag, Governor James S. Edduba represented by Board Member Glenn B. Amla, barangay captains of Lucog, Bagumbayan, and Naneng, irrigation association members, contractors, and NIA personnel.
