P9.7M educational assistance give to 3,157 students in CAR on second day of distribution

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Over P9.7 million was distributed to 3,517 students in the region on the second day of the distribution of the cash aid for individuals who are in a crisis situation, according to the DSWD-Cordillera.


The Regional Field Office logs the highest number of recipients on the second day, with 914 beneficiaries who were granted a total of P2,069,000 aid.


Next to the field office are Ifugao with 605 beneficiaries given P2,016,000; Abra with 597 beneficiaries - P1,523,000; Mt. Province with 357 recipients - P1,200,000; Apayao with 387 recipients – P1,101,000; Benguet with 365 recipients – P952,000; and Kalinga with 291 recipients – P883,000.


Last week, over P3.6 million worth of educational assistance was reported by the agency to have been accorded to rightful recipients.

The distribution was scheduled by the agency every Saturday and has started on August 20, 2022.


The disbursement of cash aid will conclude on September 24, 2022.


In the program, elementary pupils shall get P1,000, junior high school students- P2,000, senior high school students – P3,000 and college students - P4,000.


Who are qualified for the cash aid?

The agency explained eligible "students in crisis" under the AICS (Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation) program are breadwinners, working students, orphans, abandoned, orphans living with relatives, children of single parents or disturbed abroad Filipino workers, victims of abuse or disaster, or children of persons who are HIV-positive.

Those who are Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries are not qualified.


Meantime, DSWD-CAR announced Friday, August 26 that they are currently not accepting applicants-online and walk-in while they are clearing names of those who already received their aid.


"Kasalukuyang nililinis ang listahan ng mga naunang nakapag pa rehistro para sa programa upang maiwasan ang duplication. Hintayin ang pasabi kung kailan muling ibubukas ang link para sa registration para sa programa," the agency stated.


For those who already registered, they are advised to wait for a message that will be sent to their numbers
