Updated: 1 day ago

Baguio City, Philippines – Apart from maintaining its runner-up title, the Panagbenga Festival of Baguio City snatched “the Best Folkloric Performance” title in this year’s grandest festival – the Aliwan Fiesta.

The Panagbenga festival entry also brought home said award last year.

The festival, represented by the University of Cordilleras Center for Creative Production, was likewise the Pride of Place Awardee in the street dance competition of the festivity dubbed the festival of festivals.

The competition took place on June 29, 2024, in Pasay City, showing the talents of dancers coming from various regions in the country as they don their colorful costumes and perform intricate dance choreographies, performing their province’s festivals, rich traditions, and history.

There were 15 participating groups this year, mostly originating from Luzon.

Meantime, another contingent from the Cordillera Region also joined the event – the Tribu Rizal, which portrayed Kalinga’s Bodong Festival.

This is the second time that Bodong Festival has been featured in said event.

The first one was in 2019 when the Pride of Place award was snatched by the festival represented by the students of Saints Theresita's High School of Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
