Paracelis all set for FIRST Kakarefin Fest

Paracelis, Mt. Province – “Join us and take a glimpse of our town's intrinsic beauty with its rich cultural heritage and investment potentials.”

Paracelis Mayor Marcos G. Ayangwa invited the public to celebrate with them on their 61st founding anniversary and inaugural “Kakarefin” Festival slated for June 10 to 18, 2023.

“Kakarefin” is a unique Ga'dang term that translates to “holding hands together.” It is said to be a manifestation of a distinct cultural trait that is shared in common amidst the cultural and tribal diversity by and among the 13 recognized and existing ethnolinguistic groups settled in the municipality.

Back then, what is celebrated alongside the place’s founding anniversary is “Panagdadapon” fest which likewise showcased unity of the diverse groups.

In 2020, the local government unit under the Ayangwa administration renamed the festivity into “Kakarefin,” upholding his tagline - moving ahead for a remarkable change (MARC).

Among the highlights of the town’s fiesta include indoor and outdoor sports, street dancing and cultural performances, literary musical, beauty pageant, agro-trade fair with indigenous food cooking competition, and indigenous games, among others.

“We welcome you all in Kakarefin Land of the Municipality of Paracelis as we celebrate… with the beat of our gongs, the flipping of our hands mimicking a butterfly we call "kalifambang" and with the tapping of our feet as we dance our traditional dance "tontak" together with the singing of our traditional song called "alingwan,"” Ayangwa expressed.

Activities signifying culture, tradition and heritage of the people of Paracelis will be anchored on this year’s theme, “Eyeing Transformation and Embracing Change towards Unity, Resiliency and Development."
