Pasil elects new BHW and BNS officers on World TB Day

Pasil, Kalinga – As the Municipality of Pasil celebrated the World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on Wednesday, April 06, 2022, a new set of Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) officers were also elected during the event.

Municipal Mayor Alfredo ‘Chao-ig’ Malannag Jr. who graced the event held at Amdalao open gymnasium administered the oath-taking of the newly-elected officers.

Malannag congratulated the officers and the BHWs and BNSs as a whole for being an inspiration to the community for their sacrifices in rendering primary health care services. He described the health workers as the government’s partner in delivering services to the public.

As part of the event, the personnel of the Provincial Health Office provided a lecture on the government efforts to eliminate tuberculosis in the country. The mayor recalled that tuberculosis is considered as one of the world’s deadliest infectious killers by the World Health Organization.

Lectures on nutrition, healthy lifestyle and COVID-19 prevention were also provided.

As incentive, gift packs from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) were distributed for the BHWs and BNSs.

“Our theme this year, ‘Invest to End TB. Save Lives.’ convey our urgent need to invest resources to ramp up our fight against TB. Mamatiak nga with more investment, more lives can be saved,” underscored Malannag through his social media account.
